Prayer of Love and Comfort
Our Blessed Mother, Mary, when she gave birth to Your Son,
wrapped the baby Jesus in “swaddling clothes” to keep Him warm and protected.
Wrap us in the “swaddling clothes” of Your love.
Keep us warm by the presence of Your Son
as we await His coming to us.
Give us comfort in times of grief and sorrow.
And help us help those for whom this season can be most difficult.
We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Father Alex Steinmiller, CP, shares his thoughts for Christmas Eve. He is a member of the Passionist Community in Detroit, Michigan.
A Thought for Love
O God of hidden wonder, this Christmas expand our minds
and stretch our imaginations so that we may wonder at your appearing.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, come!
We long to see your face.

Call to Action:
Celebrate an old-fashioned and healthy tradition: tonight, fill children’s stockings with fruit and nuts, rather than toys and candy. If you do not have children, start a Christmas Eve tradition this year that is Jesus-centered and expresses solidarity with the poor.
