Se la conoc\u00eda por su naturaleza amable, inteligencia y amor intenso por Jes\u00fas desde ni\u00f1a. Aunque deseaba convertirse en religiosa, su fr\u00e1gil salud le impidi\u00f3 ingresar a una orden religiosa. Fue guiada espiritualmente por los Pasionistas y ten\u00eda una profunda devoci\u00f3n a la Pasi\u00f3n de Cristo y a San Gabriel Possenti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gema experiment\u00f3 fen\u00f3menos m\u00edsticos, incluyendo los estigmas (las heridas de Cristo), visiones de Jes\u00fas, Mar\u00eda y su \u00e1ngel guardi\u00e1n, y episodios de \u00e9xtasis espiritual.
