the \u201cmanifestation\u201d of God\u2019s Love in the person of Jesus, our newborn Savior.&nbsp; The Scriptures remind us that the earliest recipients of that manifestation were simple shepherds, then the elder Simeon, and the 84-year-old widow Anna.&nbsp; Today\u2019s Gospel selection from Matthew recounts the star-lit manifestation to the magi, whom we\u2019ve come to call \u201ckings\u201d or \u201cwise men\u201d &#8212; noted as well for their special (and pricey!) gifts they brought Jesus and the Holy Family:&nbsp; gold, frankincense, and myrrh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our practice of Christmas gift-giving derives from the action of these \u201cwise men.\u201d Gifts can be practical, necessary, creative, simple, pricey, even fun \u2013 but gifts\u2019 significance lies in the meaning they bear.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A classic short story by the American author, O.
