At the sound of Mary\u2019s greeting, the child in Elizabeth\u2019s womb leaps for joy. Before words are spoken, before status or strength are measured, life responds to the presence of God. This moment reveals a profound truth: human dignity is not earned, proven, or negotiated; it is received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile has-palette-color-6-background-color has-background\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 40%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-palette-color-4-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\">Yet the Magnificat reminds us that God\u2019s concern for life does not end at birth. The same God who sanctifies life in the womb also casts down the mighty, lifts up the lowly, fills the hungry, and remembers the poor. <\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"304\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Mary-Henze-sq.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10490 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Mary-Henze-sq.jpg 300w, https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Mary-Henze-sq-296x300.jpg 296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Human dignity continues to be formed and tested within the womb of creation itself, where entire communities are wounded, displaced, excluded, or forgotten by systems of power and fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How many traps of the evil spirit have taken root in our hearts and minds, clouding our ability to recognize and defend the dignity of every human person? How often are we led to believe that we must choose whose lives matter more, defending some while remaining silent about the suffering, incarceration, disappearance, or dehumanization of others? This is one of the great deceptions of the evil one: convincing us that compassion must be selective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From a Passionist heart, we know that Christ stands especially with the crucified of our world\u2014those whose dignity is denied, whose voices are unheard, whose lives are treated as disposable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-subtitle stk-block-subtitle stk-block stk-c86d385\" data-block-id=\"c86d385\"><style>.stk-c86d385 .stk-block-subtitle__text{font-size:1.8em !important;color:var(--theme-palette-color-2, #7b272c) consciences, soften our hearts and free us from every lie that divides.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And in a world marked by violence and exclusion, let us return humbly to Mary\u2019s song\u2014the Magnificat\u2014proclaiming with our lives that God lifts up the lowly, fills the hungry with good things, and remains faithful to mercy, generation after
