On Valentine\u2019s Day, we celebrate love \u2014 in marriages, friendships, family life, and community. These are real and beautiful signs that we are created for communion. Love draws us out of ourselves and teaches us to give.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For St. Paul of the Cross, however, the deepest meditation on love was always found in the Passion of Jesus Christ. He often referred to it as \u201cthe greatest and most overwhelming work of Divine Love.\u201d<\/em> In the suffering and death of Christ, he saw not defeat, but the fullest revelation of God\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Passion reveals a Love that holds nothing back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Passionists, this mystery is not only something we admire \u2014 it is the center of our vocation. We are called to keep alive the memory of the Passion of Jesus Christ, especially in a world that often forgets both suffering and love. We proclaim, by our lives and ministry, that no suffering is meaningless when united with Christ, and no person is unloved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Calvary, Jesus shows us that love remains faithful in the face of rejection, offers mercy in response to cruelty, and gives itself completely for the life of the world. The cross becomes our school of love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Valentine\u2019s Day, as we celebrate the gift of human love, we also renew our commitment to the Divine Love that shapes our mission. The Passion of Christ calls each of us \u2014 religious, laity, and those discerning their path \u2014 to a deeper self-giving. It invites us to stand with those who suffer, to bring hope to the forgotten, and to witness that Love is stronger than death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those who feel drawn to something more, the Passion reminds us that a vocation is born from encountering this overwhelming Divine Love. When we truly know we are loved by Christ Crucified, we cannot help but respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You revealed the fullness of Divine Love

You called St. Paul of the Cross
to keep alive the memory of Your suffering love.
Awaken in our hearts that same fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teach us to love with courage and fidelity.
Help us to stand with those who suffer.
Form us into witnesses of hope
in a world longing for meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If You are calling us to deeper service \u2014
in religious life, in family life,
or in generous discipleship \u2014
give us the grace to say yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May Your Passion be ever before our eyes
