The temptation is to turn one\u2019s head and pretend we don\u2019t see or hear. Dr. Elie Wiesel, Auschwitz survivor and Nobel Pece Prize Recipient spent his life fighting against hatred and providing affirmation that every man and woman needs. When asked, Dr. Wiesel liked to call himself simply,\u201d a witness\u201d. (Adapted from&nbsp; Sabbath Moment, Terry Hershey, \u201cI Choose to be a Witness, \u201dFebruary 9, 2026.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Oxford Dictionary defines a witness as \u201ca person who sees an event, typically a crime or accident, take place\u201d.(Oxford Dictionary Google) From a biblical perspective witness is a person who sees an event and who shares what he or she has seen.\u00a0 An onlooker is, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201csomeone who watches something that is happening in a public place but is not involved in it\u201d.<\/p>\n<cite>-Cambridge Dictionary<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are we a witness or an onlooker?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Have we decided to bear witness? In today&#8217;s Gospel, Luke describes the calling of Levi, also known as Matthew. Jesus called and Levi got up and followed and spent the reminder of his life witnessing to what God has done in his and others\u2019 lives. Today is the fourth day of Lent.\u00a0 Do you and I\u00a0 have a spiritual growth plan for a Lent?\u00a0We can show up this Lent and be a witness.\u00a0 How?\u00a0 Plan every day to do something such as listening to an elderly person\u2019s story for the 100<sup>o<\/sup> time.\u00a0Embrace those who are hurting or feeling alone.\u00a0Daily give gifts of compassion, honor a person\u2019s dignity,
