The pharisees were religious, disciplined and faithful to the Law. How could anyone go beyond that? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-subtitle stk-block-subtitle stk-block stk-4faa1b8\" data-block-id=\"4faa1b8\"><style>.stk-4faa1b8 .stk-block-subtitle__text{font-size:1.5em !important;color:var(--theme-palette-color-23, #216368) !important;line-height:1.3em !important;font-weight:normal !important;font-style:italic !important;font-family:\"ct_font_prensa\", Sans-serif !important;}@media screen and (max-width:999px){.stk-4faa1b8 .stk-block-subtitle__text{font-size:1.5em !important;}}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-subtitle__text stk-subtitle has-text-color\">But Jesus is not asking for more external practices. He is asking for inner transformation.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He takes the commandment \u201cyou shall not kill\u201d and goes deeper. He speaks about anger, harsh words and broken relationships. Because God does not look only at actions, He looks at the heart. A person may never commit murder, yet may wound others daily through resentment, insults and silent hatred. Christian righteousness is not about maintaining an image. It is about purity of heart. When anger is allowed to grow, it destroys peace within us and around us. That is why Jesus says, if you are at the altar and remember that your brother has something against you, first go and be reconciled. Reconciliation is more pleasing to God than ritual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, we must examine our hearts. Is there unforgiveness? Is there pride? Is there someone we refuse to speak to? The Lord calls us to settle these matters quickly, because delayed forgiveness hardens the heart. The righteousness Jesus demands is not human perfection. It is a heart surrendered to grace. When we allow Christ to remove anger and fill us with His mercy and compassion, we truly become His disciples. Today we ask the grace to forgive, the grace to reconcile and the grace to live a righteousness that comes from the heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile has-palette-color-39-background-color has-background\" style=\"grid-template-columns:32% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"419\" height=\"599\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Gabriel-of-the-Sorrows.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11483 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Gabriel-of-the-Sorrows.jpg 419w, https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Gabriel-of-the-Sorrows-210x300.jpg 210w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\">Today the Passionist Family celebrates the feast of St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows. As a young Passionist saint, his life teaches us that purity of heart is the treasure that allows us to see God and live in His love fully.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From his youth, he sought to keep his heart free from anger, pride and selfishness. Every act of his life whether in prayer, service to the poor or care for the suffering flowed from a heart devoted to the Passion of Christ. Even his own sufferings, united to the Passion of Christ, became a source of love and compassion for others.
