Our world has a grave social debt towards the poor who lack access to drinking water, because they are denied the right to a life consistent with their inalienable dignity.<\/p>\nLaudato Si\u2019, 30<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Water, in Laudato Si'<\/em>, is presented not simply as a resource but as a sacred gift that sustains all life. Yet this gift is under severe threat due to human misuse, inequality, and indifference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the appearance of abundance on our \u201cblue planet,\u201d only a tiny fraction\u2014about 1%\u2014is accessible for human consumption, making responsible stewardship essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a Passionist perspective, this crisis is not only environmental but deeply spiritual. The Passionist charism calls us to \u201ckeep alive the memory of the Passion\u201d by recognizing the suffering of Christ in the suffering of the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, that suffering is seen in the cry of Earth and the cry of the poor, especially those who lack access to clean water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The violence present in our hearts, wounded by sin, is also reflected in the symptoms of sickness evident in the soil, in the water, in the air and in all forms of life.<\/p>\nLaudato Si\u2019, 2<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

One of the most urgent problems highlighted is the lack of access to clean drinking water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
