PTSD Awareness Month is observed each year in June. As Passionists, we want to highlight this observance because it challenges us, as members of the Passionist Family, to become more aware of the suffering caused by PTSD among our families and friends, especially within the vulnerable populations among us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The traumatic events which bring on PTSD are all around us. Most commonly we think of those who have served in armed conflict in the military services. First responders are also at risk of PTSD in the fulfillment of their duties. Abusive situations and the threats experienced by those with a non-binary gender identity are potential settings for developing PTSD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are the Passionist Family. We are committed to recognizing the Passion of Jesus in our brothers and sisters. We also wish to respond to people\u2019s suffering with words and actions that bring hope to darkness and companionship to loneliness. Most of all, we can affirm life to anyone who is about to give up on living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
