of Saint John the Baptist<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;John is his name.\u201d Today, we remember the birth of Saint John the Baptist.\u00a0 Admittedly, the Scriptures present him as rather threatening, but his name in Hebrew means Yahweh (God) is gracious!\u00a0 The word gracious in Hebrew is <em>\u1e25\u0101nan <\/em>which means kindness with compassion!\u00a0 In fact God is Self described in Exodus 34:4 \u201ca merciful racham(compassionate) and very generous<strong> (<\/strong><em>\u1e25\u0101nan)<\/em><strong>!\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>The phrase rhymes in Hebrew,<em> racham and<\/em> <em>\u1e25\u0101nan<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John the Baptist had to be forceful in waking up his generation to the incredible act of love and kindness from the Father!\u00a0 John\u2019s mission was to prepare the people for the greatest event ever to happen in the cosmos \u201cthe Word was made Flesh\u201d!\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-995f960e wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.\u201d<\/p>\n<cite>-John 3:16<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another St John wrote passionately: \u201cHe came unto his own, and they that were his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God<sup>\u201d <\/sup>John 1:11<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The greatest tragedy of our lives is not to receive and appreciate this enormous gift of Jesus from our Father in Heaven.&nbsp;&nbsp; We must prayerfully encourage young parents to be faithful in example and instruction to their children.&nbsp; I never saw my parents miss Mass on Sunday except for illness.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children are a beautiful gift and, for many, parenthood is a profound way to share in God&#8217;s creative love by nurturing a life destined for eternity. We also hold close those who long for children and face the pain of infertility or other challenges.
