Jesus breaks forth in exuberant praise of God because God chose to reveal the ways of God\u2014indeed, the very mysteries of God\u2014not to the \u201cwise and learned,\u201d but \u201cto the childlike.\u201d What is it about children that makes them particularly fitted to receive the revelations of God in ways that the \u201cwise and the learned\u201d cannot?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children are open, trusting, curious, and eager to learn, which are all essential qualities to a life of faith. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile has-palette-color-39-background-color has-background\" style=\"grid-template-columns:48% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"610\" height=\"330\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Childrens-Playground.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3249 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Childrens-Playground.jpg 610w, https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Childrens-Playground-300x162.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\">Children are not reluctant to follow even if they aren\u2019t completely sure where a journey might take them, which pretty well describes a life of discipleship, a life marked by following, imitating, and learning from Christ.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps most importantly, unlike people who look for reasons <em>not<\/em> to believe, children are filled with a natural sense of wonder that makes them <em>eager <\/em>to believe even if (and perhaps especially if) something sounds <em>too good<\/em> to believe. In fact, with children if it sounds too good to believe, all the better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But isn\u2019t that Christianity in a nutshell? Isn\u2019t Christianity the revelation of something that seems far too good to believe\u2014totally preposterous\u2014but is nonetheless true? Isn\u2019t the gospel \u201cgood news\u201d precisely because its message of God\u2019s undying love, of God\u2019s unconditional mercy and forgiveness, of God\u2019s promise of healing, wholeness, and everlasting life (all of which sounds far too good to believe), the key to understanding everything and the reason for our hope?
