Les voy a decir a qui\u00e9n han de temer: Teman a aquel que, despu\u00e9s de darles muerte, los puede arrojar al lugar de castigo. Se lo repito: A \u00e9l s\u00ed tienen que temerlo\". <\/p>\n<cite>Lucas 12, 4-5<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En 1930, la Iglesia canoniz\u00f3 a San Isaac Jogues y sus compa\u00f1eros jesuitas como los m\u00e1rtires norteamericanos. Siete jesuitas y un misionero laico jesuita fueron martirizados entre 1642 y 1649. Estos hombres sufrieron mucho a manos de la gente que hab\u00edan venido a evangelizar. Llegaron a esta parte del Nuevo Mundo sabiendo muy bien que sus vidas estar\u00edan en constante peligro, no s\u00f3lo por los pueblos ind\u00edgenas que ven\u00edan para bautizar y educar en la fe sino tambi\u00e9n por el mal tiempo, las dif\u00edciles condiciones de vida y la falta peri\u00f3dica de alimentos y agua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estos hombres eran misioneros comprometidos. Reconoc\u00edan plenamente los peligros que les esperaban. Tuvieron que enfrentar muchos miedos: el miedo a las enfermedades, el miedo al fr\u00edo extremo sin ropa o vivienda adecuadas, el temor al hambre y el miedo a la muerte por parte de los depredadores naturales y tribus en guerra. Hay una frase poderosa en el Libro de la Revelaci\u00f3n, cap\u00edtulo y vers\u00edculo 12,11: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\"... pues hablaron sin tener miedo a la muerte.\"<\/em>. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los jesuitas sab\u00edan que ten\u00edan que superar todos sus miedos para poder vivir su compromiso misionero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si hay algo de lo que cada individuo es consciente, son sus temores. Nuestros temores se manifiestan temprano en la vida y luego llega un momento en que nos damos cuenta de que esos temores nunca desaparecer\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En el evangelio de hoy, cuando Jesusis instruye a sus disc\u00edpulos sobre sus temores reales y a veces ocultos, les ense\u00f1a que Dios puede ayudarlos a superar todos sus temores. Pueden estar asustados y ansiosos por lo que van a vestir, lo que van a comer y d\u00f3nde van a vivir, pero Dios siempre se ocupar\u00e1 de ellos. Deben confiar en la bondad de los dem\u00e1s cuando pueden no tener suficiente para s\u00ed mismos. La bondad de Dios hace que todos sean capaces de ser buenos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los miedos ocultos son peligrosos. Todos llevamos nuestros miedos en el coraz\u00f3n, algunos son muy visibles en nuestros rostros y nuestro habla, otros est\u00e1n bien ocultos profundamente dentro de nuestra autoconciencia. Algunos de nosotros no nos damos cuenta de c\u00f3mo estamos controlados por nuestros miedos: nuestro miedo a no tener suficientes alimentos y recursos, nuestro miedo a que otros nos digan qu\u00e9 hacer, nuestro miedo a morir. Creemos err\u00f3neamente que podemos superar nuestros miedos al ser m\u00e1s poderosos, tener m\u00e1s dinero y estar mejor armados que la gente a nuestro alrededor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jes\u00fas nos dice hoy: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>Do not be afraid of those who those who can kill the body, but after that can do no more<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is difficult for us to grasp. For so many of us, our greatest fear is of those who want to take away our human life. Human instinct takes over. We either fight or run from this danger. This is normal. And yet, we can choose to overcome this fear and allow our lives to be at risk for the sake of the Gospel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jes\u00fas sigue diciendo: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>\"No teman a aquellos que matan el cuerpo y despu\u00e9s ya no pueden hacer nada m\u00e1s.\" <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00bfQu\u00e9 quiere decir Jes\u00fas con eso? Creo que quiere decir que podemos caer en la tentaci\u00f3n de abandonar nuestros valores evang\u00e9licos para salvar nuestras vidas humanas y asegurar nuestra comodidad. Creo que todos sabemos cu\u00e1les son los valores del Evangelio. Nos dieron una lista de ellos en el Evangelio del domingo.  \u00bfEstamos realmente dispuestos a arriesgar nuestra vida humana para vivir el Evangelio y los valores que nos ense\u00f1a?
