{"id":1910,"date":"2025-03-15T22:44:17","date_gmt":"2025-03-16T03:44:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2025\/03\/15\/daily-scripture-march-16-2025\/"},"modified":"2025-03-15T22:44:17","modified_gmt":"2025-03-16T03:44:17","slug":"daily-scripture-march-16-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2025\/03\/15\/daily-scripture-march-16-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, March 16, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/031625.cfm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/031625.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18<br>Philippians 3:17-4:1<br>Luke 9:28b-36<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, we reflected on the temptation of Jesus in the desert, when the devil tempted Jesus to betray His true self; to serve Himself instead of being obedient to the Father\u2019s plan, coming to serve rather than to be served. We reflected on our own temptation to be false to who we are, and our call to be true to who God created us to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Mar-16.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38002\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just as the Gospel reading for the First Sunday of Lent is always the account of Jesus being tempted in the desert, the Gospel reading for the Second Sunday of Lent is always the account of the Transfiguration of Jesus on the mountaintop. This year we have Luke\u2019s account (Luke 9:28b \u2013 36). At the Transfiguration, Peter and James and John get a glimpse of the fullness of Jesus that is to come. During the temptation, Jesus was tempted to betray His true self. Here, Jesus\u2019 true self is revealed. When Jesus is transfigured, a voice from heaven declares, \u201cThis is my chosen Son; listen to him.\u201d Luke tells us that on the mountaintop, Moses and Elijah appear and speak \u201cof the exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.\u201d Jesus reveals everything about being the Son of the Father in His Passion, death, and Resurrection. I think Peter, James and John do not speak of this at the time was because they didn\u2019t fully understand what it meant until Easter, or even Pentecost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just as Jesus\u2019 true self was revealed on the mountain, our true selves are to be revealed in the world. As I was thinking about this, I thought of the song, \u201cChild of God\u201d: \u201cIf anybody asks you who I am, who I am, who I am; if anybody asks you who I am, tell him I\u2019m a child of God.\u201d I also thought of Philippians 4:5: \u201cYour kindness should be known to all.\u201d There is also 1 Peter 3:15: \u201cAlways be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you a reason for your hope.\u201d There is another old song: \u201cand they\u2019ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love; yes, they\u2019ll know we are Christians by our love.\u201d And again, there is this refrain: \u201cIf anybody asks you, where I am going, where I am going, soon. I\u2019m goin\u2019 up yonder\u2026I\u2019m goin\u2019 up yonder to be with my Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are called to live our lives in such a way that reveals that we do believe that we are indeed children of God; that, in following Jesus, we are willing to show kindness to everyone, and demonstrate our love for each other and for the world, in working for justice and peace. We are to live as people of hope, helping now to building up the kingdom, and looking forward to being with our Lord in heaven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be true to who we are, we need God\u2019s grace. We need to be open to God transfiguring us, to be \u201cthe change we want to see.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May our lives be a revelation of God\u2019s love in Jesus Christ. May we do our part in helping \u201ctransfigure\u201d our world into the place God created it to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fr.
