{"id":1927,"date":"2025-02-26T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-27T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2025\/02\/26\/daily-scripture-february-27-2025\/"},"modified":"2025-02-26T21:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T03:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-february-27-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2025\/02\/26\/daily-scripture-february-27-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, February 27, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Feb-27.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37477\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/022725.cfm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/022725.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sirach 5:1-8<br>Mark 9:41-50<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our first reading from Sirach, the author says, \u201cDelay not your conversion to the Lord.\u201d This is toward the end of our reading, but what has gone before, and what we hear Jesus say in our Gospel reading all point to what conversion to the Lord means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sirach says, \u201cRely not on your wealth\u2026 Rely not on your strength.\u201d Perhaps the most fundamental change in attitude that is necessary for conversion is surrender. The closer we get to God, the more we realize we need to surrender to God\u2019s will, and the more we rely on God rather than our own devices. This is humbling, and sometimes hard to acknowledge, but it is the only way to real peace and serenity. Every time I try to do it my way instead of God\u2019s way, I get into trouble!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The urgency of conversion comes across in what Jesus says in our Gospel reading from Mark. When Jesus talks about moving away from sin, He says, \u201cIf your hand causes you to sin, cut it off\u2026. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off\u2026. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.\u201d Jesus is not asking us to mutilate ourselves, but he is challenging us to let go of <em>anything<\/em> that gets in the way of following Him and coming to the Father. The willingness to do that is a sign of conversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world needs what we have been given: The Good News of Jesus Christ! The world needs more demonstrations of love and peace and justice! I think this is what Jesus means by saying \u201cKeep salt in yourselves, and you will have peace with one another.\u201d If we keep the seasoning of God\u2019s love in ourselves, we can be at peace, work peacefully with others, and spread peace to all. The time for conversion is now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fr.
