{"id":1946,"date":"2025-02-07T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-08T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2025\/02\/07\/daily-scripture-february-8-2025\/"},"modified":"2025-02-07T21:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-02-08T03:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-february-8-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2025\/02\/07\/daily-scripture-february-8-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, February 8, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Feb-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27748\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/020825.cfm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/020825.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hebrews 13:15-17,20-21<br>Mark 6:30-34<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Great Commandment\u2026Practically Speaking<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s two Scripture selections and the Responsorial Psalm flow together as a lived application of the Great Commandment to \u201clove God\u2026love your neighbor\u2026love yourself\u201d.&nbsp; And as we\u2019re close to the secular celebration of love highlighted in the ever-popular \u201cValentine\u2019s Day\u201d, these Scripture passages can be a wake-up call to really let God\u2019s love come alive in us \u2013 and in our world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our selection from the Letter to the Hebrews is the conclusion of the letter, issuing a call to its readers to \u201coffer God a sacrifice of praise\u201d \u2026to \u201cdo his will\u201d\u2026and to give God glory forever and ever.&nbsp; At a most basic level, we\u2019re encouraged:&nbsp; Love God!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The writer also encourages the readers to \u201cdo good and share what you have\u201d.&nbsp; Most likely this encouragement flows from the prime example of Jesus and his apostles as related in the Gospel selection from Mark.&nbsp; The apostles gathered with Jesus to report on their tireless activities in sharing the Good News, and Jesus invited them to go to a deserted place and rest a while\u2026a welcome respite for any busy, hardworking person!&nbsp; Off in a boat, to a deserted place, a mini retreat\u2026Love yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eager for healing and the message of mercy and love being offered by Jesus, the crowds continued to pursue them \u2013 so much so that their needed rest and apostolic debriefing was put on hold while Jesus\u2019 heart was moved, and He reached out in love for those in need.&nbsp; These \u201csheep without a shepherd\u201d were loved\u2026Love your neighbor!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century world we\u2019re often overwhelmed with vivid stories of mistrust, violence, greed, poverty, discrimination, exclusion \u2013 you name it.&nbsp; The rested, more contemplative spirit encouraged by Jesus helps provide a new and necessary perspective on our Christian faith meeting the needs of today\u2019s world.&nbsp; The Great Commandment is today\u2019s rally cry, helping us provide a prophetic outreach to our needy brothers and sisters \u2013 with the supreme example provided by Jesus Crucified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So\u2026 Take a few moments; step aside from the hoopla and hype of Super Bowl prep, the warm fuzzies of the upcoming Valentine\u2019s Day, the perhaps cold and frosty weather of the Northern Hemisphere.&nbsp; Join Jesus for a few special moments of peace and perspective in some \u201cout of the way place\u201d.&nbsp; And, let these moments be a welcome breather, a life-giver \u2013 we need God\u2019s love that is offered to us all.&nbsp; Ah, those reassuring words: \u201cThe Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want\u2026He refreshes my soul\u2026He guides me in right paths.\u201d&nbsp; Yes!&nbsp; Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fr.
