{"id":2073,"date":"2024-10-03T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-04T01:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2024\/10\/03\/daily-scripture-october-4-2024\/"},"modified":"2024-10-03T20:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-10-04T01:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-october-4-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2024\/10\/03\/daily-scripture-october-4-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, October 4, 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Oct-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35284\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Memorial of St. Francis of Assisi<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/100424.cfm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/100424.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Job 38: 1, 12-21; 40:3-5<br>Luke 10:13-16<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Witnessing God\u2019s Loving Presence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus confronted the reality of evil and selfishness with his message of life and love.&nbsp; Some have received his message with an open heart; others have turned away in a spirit of denial.&nbsp; Today\u2019s Gospel selection from Luke 10 shares Jesus\u2019 cries of \u201cwoe\u201d and challenge to those who remained hard-hearted and closed to his message of Love and Life.&nbsp; Contrasting is the message of today\u2019s first reading from the Book of Job wherein the Lord addressed Job in his distress and tried to put a new perspective on his troubles:&nbsp; God\u2019s love is powerful and creative, helping us to prosper in life\u2019s every opportunity and challenge\u2026&nbsp;&nbsp; It\u2019s ours to be humble and open to the saving power of God!&nbsp; God\u2019s love is real!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today we celebrate the life of a 12<sup>o<\/sup> Century saint who was called to help bring about a renewal in the Church through the personal witness of his life, his \u201cspirit.\u201d&nbsp; Francis of Assisi heard the personal call of Jesus and gave himself wholeheartedly to Jesus in a life both simple and extraordinary\u2026leading him to praise, sacrifice and service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Scriptures came alive for Francis of Assisi.&nbsp; His carefree youth was radically changed by the call of Jesus; he renounced his personal possessions and redirected his life to evangelical poverty and preaching.&nbsp; Francis\u2019 life witness was charismatic, compassionate, and loving of all God\u2019s creation.&nbsp; God used Francis to call others to lives of radical discipleship \u2013 and so many responded that Francis compiled a \u201crule of life\u201d and founded numerous religious communities of women and men.&nbsp; He lived but 44 short years, sharing the joy of those early disciples of Jesus, sparking a spiritual renewal that continues to inspire men and women today \u2013 especially as witnessed by our own Pope Francis!&nbsp; \u201cRebuild my church\u2026\u201d\u2026then and now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today Jesus and Job and Francis of Assisi challenge us to generously promote the Kingdom of God.&nbsp; Our world is challenged by violence, selfishness, poverty and hunger, hopelessness, injustice, racism, etc.&nbsp; We are challenged to be faith-filled disciples\u2026to respect God\u2019s presence in all people, in nature and all created things\u2026especially the daily events of life.&nbsp; Simplicity and humility are to be virtues of 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century disciples, witnessing the ongoing mercy and compassion which are the heart of God.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Collect Prayer of today\u2019s feast day Eucharist prays:&nbsp; \u201c\u2026Saint Francis was conformed to Christ in poverty and humility; grant that, by walking in Francis\u2019 footsteps, we may follow your Son, and, through joyful charity come to be united with you&#8230;.\u201d&nbsp; Like Francis, may we be channels of God\u2019s peace!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fr.
