{"id":2305,"date":"2024-02-03T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-04T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2024\/02\/03\/daily-scripture-february-4-2024\/"},"modified":"2024-02-03T21:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-02-04T03:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-february-4-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2024\/02\/03\/daily-scripture-february-4-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, February 4, 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Feb-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32200\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/020424.cfm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/020424.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Job 7:1-4,6-7<br>1 Corinthians 9:16-19,22-23<br>Mark 1:29-39<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>No Rest for the Good\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s Gospel has a very unique \u201cmother-n-law\u201d story.&nbsp; Peter was worried about his mother-in-law, at home, bedridden with a serious fever.&nbsp; Jesus is told of her condition, and He meets her, takes her by the hand and helps her from her bed \u2013 she\u2019s healed!&nbsp; And\u2026surprisingly\u2026 she begins to wait on Jesus and His disciples who were hungry (perhaps road-worn?) young adults.&nbsp; No rest for her!&nbsp; Like Jesus, she was generous in \u201cwaiting on them\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gospel continues with Jesus again being called upon to heal the crowds that came to the door\u2026people who were physically ill &#8212; even possessed by demons.&nbsp; And He healed them!&nbsp; No rest for Him!&nbsp; Rising early the next day, Jesus \u201cneeds\u201d to get away and pray, perhaps to further ponder the physical and human suffering He constantly encountered for healing.&nbsp; Again, \u201cno rest for the good\u201d; Simon looks for Jesus and tells Him that even more people are searching for Him and His healing love.&nbsp; Jesus responds by saying He needs to move on and preach in the nearby villages\u2026His mission, His purpose.&nbsp; <em>No rest for the good!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saint Paul in his 1<sup>st<\/sup> letter to the Corinthians notes that his missionary work comes from his stewardship of God\u2019s love shared with him.&nbsp; A sense of duty compels him to generously proclaim the Good News of Jesus; \u201cwoe to me if I do not preach it!\u201d&nbsp; \u2026\u201dto save at least some.\u201d&nbsp; <em>No rest for the good!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Question:&nbsp; As believers, how do we reflect the generous spirit of Jesus?&nbsp; How do we spread the Good News in our time and place?&nbsp; By virtue of our Baptism, we each have a vocation \/ calling (married, single, priestly \/ religious); our vocation is given further expression in the talents and direction of our lives (e.g. spouse, parent, teacher, manager, professional person, clergy, health care worker, etc.).&nbsp; How do we witness God\u2019s Love, Life, Joy in our 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century world of violence and fear, of poverty and loneliness, of mistrust and selfishness?&nbsp; The needs are great; healing is needed; our resources can seem limited; and often\u2026<em>no rest for the good!<\/em>&nbsp; Today we hear Jesus say: \u201clet\u2019s go!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s be grateful for our faith &#8212; however vibrant it is.&nbsp; Following Jesus\u2019 example and serving in His Name, God\u2019s healing and exciting Love and Life can transform all of creation.&nbsp; May it be said of us, as is said of Jesus:&nbsp; <em>No rest for the good!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fr.
