{"id":2485,"date":"2023-07-30T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-31T01:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2023\/07\/30\/daily-scripture-july-31-2023\/"},"modified":"2023-07-30T20:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-07-31T01:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-july-31-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2023\/07\/30\/daily-scripture-july-31-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, July 31, 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Jul-31.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30442\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/073123.cfm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/073123.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Exodus 32:15-24, 30-34<br>Matthew 13:31-35<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Happy Monday of the 17th Week in Ordinary Time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you like to cook?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I really do.&nbsp; From soups, salads, and vegetables to pasta, sauces, and barbecue \u2014 even something as simple as dishing up some cheeses, fruit, nuts, and bread \u2014 I truly enjoy my time in the kitchen or at the grill, no matter what it is I\u2019m preparing.&nbsp; And when I&#8217;m sharing something I&#8217;ve prepared with other people, well &#8211; that&#8217;s just a little glimpse of heaven to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One thing that has always fascinated me, though, is bread.&nbsp; Making a good loaf of bread is an art\u2026 and for me, the most beautiful is the most simple.&nbsp; You just need flour, water, sea salt, a few teaspoons of sugar, some olive oil, and a little yeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But you know what?&nbsp; It\u2019s the yeast that really does the trick.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sure, you might argue that the rest of the ingredients would make an ok flatbread, but it would be dense.&nbsp; Bringing yeast into the picture makes the dough expand and rise.&nbsp; It creates a light, fluffy center and a crisp, tasty crust.&nbsp; Can\u2019t you just hear the crackle of a fresh baguette when you break it in half?&nbsp; The yeast takes all the other ingredients and completely transforms them into something different.&nbsp; Something bigger.&nbsp; Something better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And here\u2019s the amazing thing about yeast:&nbsp; You don\u2019t need very much.&nbsp; Just a little bit will make an enormous difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Gospel today (Matthew 13:31-35), Jesus tells this parable:&nbsp; &#8220;The Kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took &amp; mixed with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch was leavened.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the Dismissal Rite at the end of the Mass, the Priest or Deacon will say, \u201cGo, and proclaim the Gospel by your lives.\u201d&nbsp; We are, at that moment, given the charge to go and be the yeast in the dough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The greatest thing about it is, just like yeast we really don\u2019t need very much to make a tremendous difference.&nbsp; It really comes down to us mixing in with our brothers &amp; sisters, the Children of God.&nbsp; When we do that, we \u201cLeaven the flour\u201d in our part of God\u2019s Kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s about sharing our care and compassion and companioning people on their journey.&nbsp; It\u2019s all about loving one another just as Jesus has loved us.&nbsp; And when we share love with other people, we really get the chance to have a little glimpse of what heaven really is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And for me, friends, well\u2026 that\u2019s the very best meal I can ever hope to prepare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Dios amante, <\/em><br><em>you are the Master Chef,<\/em><br><em>gathering all the ingredients needed<\/em><br><em>in order to create incredible.
