{"id":2543,"date":"2023-05-31T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T01:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2023\/05\/31\/daily-scripture-june-1-2023\/"},"modified":"2023-05-31T20:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T01:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-june-1-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2023\/05\/31\/daily-scripture-june-1-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, June 1, 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Forked-Path.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28936\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/060123.cfm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/060123.cfm\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Sirach 42:15-25<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Mark 10:46-52<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did you ever spend hours preparing a speech about a topic you were really passionate about only to have it fall on deaf ears or at the very least get a mediocre review?&nbsp; Even though you were sure that the message would be well received and your listeners would surely give it the attention it warranted, but, alas, it just didn\u2019t happen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, we see this happening with Paul in his famous speech to the Athenians at the Areopagus as found in the first reading today from the Acts of the Apostles.&nbsp; Paul prepared, planned and delivered what he thought to be a great philosophical message about Jesus.&nbsp; The people did not want to hear anything about this Jesus and surely not in the manner that Paul was trying to tell them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a hard lesson for Paul to learn.&nbsp; He was not a philosopher, but, rather a tent maker converted to Christianity through his encounters with Jesus.&nbsp; He was trying to be someone he wasn\u2019t and it just wasn\u2019t working.&nbsp; So often we too try to be what we think others want us to be which in the end finds us disappointed and disillusioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like Paul, we are called to be followers of Jesus Christ and to preach his message of love, compassion and mercy.
