{"id":2644,"date":"2023-01-30T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-01-31T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2023\/01\/30\/daily-scripture-january-31-2023\/"},"modified":"2023-01-30T21:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-01-31T03:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-january-31-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2023\/01\/30\/daily-scripture-january-31-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, January 31, 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Jan-31.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27624\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/01312023.cfm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/01312023.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hebrews 12:1-4<br>Mark 5:21-43<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Happy Tuesday of the Fourth Week of Ordinary Time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, today\u2019s Gospel really interests me.&nbsp; There\u2019s just so much there!!&nbsp; A desperate father runs up and begs Jesus to go with him so he may heal his gravely ill daughter.&nbsp; Jesus drops everything and leaves immediately.&nbsp; On the way, a woman, equally desperate but for her own salvation, believes so deeply that just \u201ctouching his cloak\u201d heals her completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the surface, this is all about Jesus healing the sick.&nbsp; The salvation he offers, even on this temporal earth, is not just significant, but life changing.&nbsp; To be brought to wholeness, our pieces put back together better than before, is certainly something for which most of us pray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Digging a little deeper, we can recognize how great the faith was of the people crying out for Jesus\u2019 saving power.&nbsp; Here are people who, in deep need, turn to someone they\u2019ve never met, but only heard about.&nbsp; Would it not be amazing if we all would have faith so strong?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reflecting further, with Jesus performing not just one but two life-saving miracles back-to-back, it\u2019s clear that there\u2019s enough of him to go around for us all.&nbsp; He doesn\u2019t hold back his saving power because it\u2019s limitless.&nbsp; For my human mind, it\u2019s unfathomable that someone\u2019s mercy, forgiveness, and healing grace could be not only free flowing, but unending.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which leads us to our next revelation \u2013 how Jesus came as a savior for everyone; Jews and non-Jews, men and women, highly esteemed members of society and outcasts, those who are \u201crighteous\u201d as well as we who are \u201cbroken\u201d \u2013 all are equal in his eyes, and all are equally deserving of God\u2019s love and healing.&nbsp; Just as before, he holds nothing back, and gives freely to any and all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But wait\u2026there\u2019s more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jairus, the father of the sick little girl, waits patiently while Jesus spends time with the woman on the way.&nbsp; He didn\u2019t say \u201cC\u2019mon, Jesus!&nbsp; She\u2019s an outcast!&nbsp; Leave her there\u2026 my daughter is more important.\u201d&nbsp; No\u2026 instead he waited \u2013 and sadly, word came that his little girl died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And Jesus, hearing that the little girl had died, didn\u2019t say \u201cDude\u2026 my bad.&nbsp; Sorry.&nbsp; Let me stop by later with a casserole and we\u2019ll chat.\u201d&nbsp; No\u2026 instead he said \u201cBe not afraid,\u201d and goes to that which everyone believes is hopeless and raises her up to new life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later in Jesus\u2019 life he would also wait to go to his friend, Lazarus.&nbsp; When he got there, Lazarus was dead and buried.&nbsp; His family had been mourning and knew in their hearts it was beyond hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSurely, he would not have died if you had been here, Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus proves God\u2019s miracles can know no limits of time or circumstance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLazarus, come out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How many times have we faced something which seemed hopeless?&nbsp; How many times have we been impatient with God, or failed to understand his plan and timing?&nbsp; I know I sure have\u2026 and a lot.&nbsp; And yet, through everything we do and in the midst of every trial, there He is, walking with us on the road toward all that needs raising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, reach out, touch his cloak.&nbsp; Cry out loudly.&nbsp; Whatever it takes, whatever you need to do, do it.&nbsp; God is there, waiting.&nbsp; He\u2019ll drop what he\u2019s doing and will walk with you, because there\u2019s enough of Him to go around for us all.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes we get what we hope for.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But we may not get the answers immediately \u2013 only in God\u2019s time.<br>We may not even get the particular salvation we\u2019re after \u2013 only God\u2019s plan.<br>Even when it seems hopeless, it\u2019s not too late to turn to God and cry out for help.<br>Even in your darkest moment, it\u2019s never too late to have faith in God\u2019s saving power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Dear God, <br>thank you for the gift of you.&nbsp; <\/em> <br><em>Please, grant us the faith to call for you, <br>reach for you, <br>and know your healing, <\/em><br><em>in your perfect way, <\/em><br><em>in your perfect time.&nbsp; <\/em><br><em>Thy will be done.<\/em><br>Am\u00e9n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Paul Puccinelli is Director of Liturgy &amp;
