{"id":2676,"date":"2022-12-23T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-24T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2022\/12\/23\/daily-scripture-december-24-2022\/"},"modified":"2022-12-23T21:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-12-24T03:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-december-24-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2022\/12\/23\/daily-scripture-december-24-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, December 24, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Christmas-Bible.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22961\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Christmas Eve<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/122422.cfm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/122422.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2 Samuel 7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16<br>Luke 1:67-79<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Because of the tender mercy of our God,<\/em> <br><em>With which the Sunrise from on high will visit us,<\/em> <br><em>To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,<\/em> <br><em>To guide our feet into the way of peace.<\/em> -Luke 1:78&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We find in this passage from Luke on Christmas Eve a beautiful meditation on the reason for the season. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It starts with one of the most passionate and tender words for the compassion of God in the Greek New Testament.&nbsp;&nbsp; The Greek word for tender compassion is <strong><em>splagchnon. <\/em><\/strong>What the word means is our innermost parts.&nbsp; What we feel rises from the depths of our being.&nbsp; It means God\u2019s feelings for us come from the depths of His Being. The Divine decision to share our human nature is the most stupendous creation of God.&nbsp; It is the most astonishing design He could plan for our poor humanity.&nbsp; He \u201cvisits\u201d us.&nbsp; In the inspired Greek text \u201cvisit\u201d comes from the word <strong>skeptomai<\/strong> <em>(to look carefully, consider)<\/em>y <strong>epi<\/strong> (upon).&nbsp; The loving eye of God smiles on us. This is \u201cpeace\u201d!&nbsp; &nbsp;It is a beautiful thing to be kissed by God!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christ is like the sunrise shining on us and obliterating the deep darkness of our lives!&nbsp;&nbsp; When He took on our nature He become vulnerable and incredibly close to us.&nbsp; A very early Scriptural verse in Phil 2:5f wonderfully articulates this for us.&nbsp; \u201cJesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, <em>y<\/em> being made in the likeness of men.&nbsp;&nbsp; Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Almighty God, Who keeps billions of galaxies in existence, shows us how much our little lives matter to Him.&nbsp; This is the wonder of Christmas!&nbsp; It is beautifully expressed in Titus 3:4f &nbsp;\u201cBut when the kindness of God our Savior and <em>His<\/em> love for mankind appeared,&nbsp;&nbsp; He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cKindness\u201d has to be one of the most meaningful descriptions of God.&nbsp; Don\u2019t you love a kind person!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Merry Christmas!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fr.
