{"id":2746,"date":"2022-10-03T20:03:36","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T01:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2022\/10\/03\/daily-scripture-october-4-2022\/"},"modified":"2022-10-03T20:03:36","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T01:03:36","slug":"daily-scripture-october-4-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2022\/10\/03\/daily-scripture-october-4-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, October 4, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/100422.cfm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/100422.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Galatians 1:13-24<br>Luke 10:38-42<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>Faith Coming Alive<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Oct-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26123\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quite a familiar picture in today\u2019s Gospel:&nbsp; St. Luke\u2019s account of Jesus at the home of Martha and Mary.&nbsp; Mary sitting at Jesus\u2019 feet listening; Martha active in her duties as \u201chostess\u201d for their special Guest.&nbsp; Thus\u2026a picture of the struggle between the values of generous service and mindful attention and contemplation.&nbsp; Jesus counsels Martha to be patient, to seek a balance and not worry, to set a good example for those of us who active \u201cdo-ers\u201d.&nbsp; As Jesus states \u201c\u2026Mary has chosen the better part\u2026\u201d &nbsp;(But some of us still question:&nbsp; what about the dishes and the dust-bunnies\u2026?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his letter to the Galatians, Saint Paul adds to the portrait of discipleship.&nbsp; He shares his conversion experience, how God helped him move from persecution to promotion of Jesus and those who follow His \u201cWay\u201d.&nbsp; Paul\u2019s new-found faith in Jesus led him on various journeys, meeting people, learning about them while he himself shared his growing faith \u2013 to the delight of those who he met.&nbsp; Paul\u2019s faith \u201ccame alive\u201d and bore fruit in both prayer and missionary action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today we celebrate the life of St. Francis of Assisi who heard the personal call of Jesus in the 12<sup>o<\/sup> Century to give himself wholeheartedly to a life of prayer, praise, sacrifice and service.&nbsp; He surely pondered God\u2019s Word shared by Sts. Luke and Paul, helping him embrace a new charismatic life of poverty and preaching.&nbsp; Francis\u2019 example inspired many others; in the 44 short years of his life, he shared the vitality of life dedicated to Jesus in both prayer and action.&nbsp; Thankfully, Saint Francis continues to spark the faith life of many in our day, especially our beloved Pope Francis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century followers of Jesus, we are hopefully inspired and challenged by the lives of Martha, Mary, St. Paul the Apostle, St. Francis \u2013 and our Passionist Holy Founder, St. Paul of the Cross.&nbsp; They invite us to consider our daily lives as women and men of faith:&nbsp; What about our prayer and contemplation?&nbsp; Our service of others, especially the poor, those suffering?&nbsp; The simplicity of our lives?&nbsp; Our heartfelt respect for all Creation?&nbsp; Our faith in Jesus coming alive\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May we be simple, balanced, faith-filled, compassionate followers of Jesus in our needy world!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fr.
