{"id":2784,"date":"2022-08-20T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-21T01:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2022\/08\/20\/daily-scripture-august-21-2022\/"},"modified":"2022-08-20T20:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-08-21T01:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-august-21-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2022\/08\/20\/daily-scripture-august-21-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, August 21, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/082122.cfm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/082122.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Isaiah 66:18-21<br>Hebrews 12: 5-7, 11-13<br>Luke 13: 22-30<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/August-21.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25676\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cStrive to enter through the narrow gate\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In today\u2019s first reading, Isaiah has a vision that \u201cnations of every language\u201d will come to see the glory of the Lord.&nbsp; In today\u2019s gospel reading, Jesus is traveling to Jerusalem and he&nbsp; also speaks of people coming from the east, west, north, and south to experience God\u2019s Kingdom.&nbsp; On this journey someone asks Jesus: \u201cLord, will only a few people be saved?\u201d Jesus answered them, \u201cStrive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I will tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus is speaking about the gate to eternal life which is not wide and spacious but it is narrow. What does it mean for us to get through that narrow gate to eternity?&nbsp; We don\u2019t merit everlasting life based on someone\u2019s special status like race, religion, or class.&nbsp; We have to earn it not by simply attending rituals, saying right prayers, or just observing rules. We earn eternal life by letting go of attitudes of prejudice, bigotry, and racism. (Dinah Simmons, Living with Christ, August 21, 2022, p. 154.) We have to let go of material things, past resentments, fears and past hurts. Living our faith fully means striving to love every person who enters our life specially the poor and vulnerable persons.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sr. Melannie Svoboda, S.N.D. reminds us: \u201c Let us always remember there is Someone who helps us squeeze through that narrow gate.&nbsp;
