{"id":2988,"date":"2022-01-03T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-04T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wiga5ubklx.wpdns.site\/2022\/01\/03\/daily-scripture-january-4-2022\/"},"modified":"2022-01-03T21:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-01-04T03:00:00","slug":"daily-scripture-january-4-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionist.org\/es\/2022\/01\/03\/daily-scripture-january-4-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Scripture, January 4, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Jan-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23029\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scripture:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/010422.cfm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/010422.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1 John 4:7-10 <br>Mark 6:34-44<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflexi\u00f3n:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>God\u2019s Love in Word &amp; Deed:&nbsp; Life!<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today we continue the celebration of the Epiphany, the \u201cmanifestation\u201d of Jesus to the world.&nbsp; As the Holy Family of Bethlehem welcomed the Magi, Jesus is indeed shared with the world as its loving Savior!&nbsp; Amen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s Scriptures are proper for the Christmas season, drawn from the First Letter of St. John and St. Mark\u2019s Gospel.&nbsp; Both remind us in special ways that God loves us totally in the Person of Jesus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saint John makes the point quite clearly when he says that this is love:&nbsp; not that we have loved God, but that God has loved us and sent His Son as an offering for our sins.&nbsp; We\u2019ve done nothing to merit the incarnation of God\u2019s Son\u2026God took the initiative, lovingly and freely.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In His life and ministry Jesus showed this special love in His every word and deed.&nbsp; Jesus freely taught the vast crowd, not like a contracted professor at a famous university being paid to teach \u2013 but as an act of heartfelt love, free of charge.&nbsp; He went one step further:&nbsp; He miraculously fed the hungry crowd with just five loaves of bread and two fish\u2026with lots of leftovers, having fed well over five thousand people!&nbsp; That kind of love can\u2019t be bought or forced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus\u2019 gratuitous love continues to reach out to people of all times and places, inviting them to live and then share His love.&nbsp; Today is the feast of a \u201ccontemporary\u201d loving disciple:&nbsp; St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the 19<sup>o<\/sup> Century foundress of the first women\u2019s religious congregation in the United States, and the first native-born U.S. citizen to be canonized.&nbsp; Her special love for God included families, children, the poor of her day\u2014sharing a striking example of generosity, service, and holiness based on her intimate relationship with Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything we have is a gift from God:&nbsp; our lives, our faith, our vocation, even the energy and talents with which we serve God and earn our living here on earth!&nbsp; What Jesus did for that early crowd He does for us:&nbsp; he graciously teaches us through the Scriptures and feeds us with his own Eucharistic Body and Blood.&nbsp; God\u2019s Love in Word and Deed!!&nbsp; Amazing!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May our New Year\u2019s 2022 resolutions help us live faith-filled lives of gratitude and service, flowing from the Life and Love which is Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Fr.
