Now\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s Gospel recounts Jesus sharing in the joy of His disciples as they returned from their ministries to the people of their day.&nbsp; Some recipients of the disciples\u2019 ministries were truly changed in spirit; some even had their demons defeated!&nbsp; Jesus reminds his disciples to keep such \u201csuccess\u201d in perspective:&nbsp; God is to be praised in all our works.&nbsp; Jesus then shares His prayer of praise to His heavenly Father, turning to His disciples to reaffirm their blessing in seeing and ministering with Him.&nbsp; Truly a grace-filled experience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Such an experience of Jesus\u2019 transforming presence was central in the call of Jesus to Francis of Assisi in the 12<sup>o<\/sup> Century.&nbsp; Francis heard that personal call of Jesus and ultimately gave himself wholeheartedly to Jesus by an exemplary life of praise, sacrifice and service. &nbsp;The Scriptures came alive for Francis of Assisi.&nbsp; His carefree youth was radically changed by Jesus\u2019 call; he renounced his personal possessions and redirected his life to evangelical poverty and preaching.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile has-palette-color-39-background-color has-background\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"610\" height=\"330\" src=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Sitting-on-a-Pier.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3533 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Sitting-on-a-Pier.jpg 610w, https:\/\/passionist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Sitting-on-a-Pier-300x162.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\">Francis\u2019 life was truly charismatic, compassionate, and loving of all God\u2019s creation.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God used Francis to call others to join in lives of radical discipleship \u2013 so many came that Francis compiled a \u201crule of life\u201d and established several religious communities of men and women.\u00a0 He lived but 44 short years, in which he shared the joy of those early disciples of Jesus, sparking a spiritual renewal that continues to inspire men and women of all ages and walks of life \u2013 especially our recent Pope Francis (R.I.P.)!\u00a0 The invitation to Francis of Assisi \u2013 and to us today &#8212; \u201cRebuild my church\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus and Francis of Assisi challenge us to generously live and promote God\u2019s Kingdom in 2025 and beyond.&nbsp; Our world is dramatically challenged by disasters of all types and intensities, by violence, selfishness, poverty and hunger, hopelessness, injustice, etc.&nbsp; Questions are many:&nbsp; Our witness as disciples today?&nbsp; As we celebrate this <em>\u201cSeason of Creation\u201d<\/em> how do we respect God\u2019s presence in people, nature, created things, the daily events in the lives of our worldwide sisters and brothers?&nbsp; How do we reflect in our lives the life-giving simplicity and humility of Jesus and Francis?&nbsp; How do we lovingly proclaim God\u2019s mercy and compassion in the midst of our world\u2019s suffering and hopelessness, to help build up the Church?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s Scriptures, the life of St. Francis, and the example of our fellow contemporary disciples encourage us to say \u201cyes\u201d and join Jesus in proclaiming God\u2019s love by word and deed.&nbsp;
