The first name he gave his community was &#8220;The Poor of Jesus.&#8221; This was to indicate that their lives were to be based on evangelical poverty, which he held to be so necessary if they were to observe the other evangelical counsels, to persevere in prayer, and to preach the Word of the Cross in season and out of season.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, he wanted them to live their lives like apostles. They were to foster and develop a deep spirit of prayer, penance, and solitude so that they could reach closer union with God and witness to His love.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keenly aware of the evils that afflicted the people of his time, he never tired of insisting that the most effective remedy is the Passion of Jesus, &#8220;the greatest and most overwhelming work of God&#8217;s love.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recognizing in Saint Paul of the Cross the action of the Holy Spirit, the Church with her supreme authority approved our Congregation and its Rule, and entrusted us with a mission: to preach the Gospel of the Passion by our life and apostolate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This mission still retains all its force and authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>-Passionist Constitutions<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I bless God, who wishes this new plant to produce copious, mature fruits for greater glory of God and the advantage of our neighbor in the midst of the thorns of so many difficulties.&nbsp; &nbsp; <em>~St. Paul of the Cross<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We in the Passionist family of Holy Cross Province are deeply aware that the Passion of Christ continues in this world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We seek to nurture the seeds that have been planted in our hearts within community and by a way of life that helps us live more deeply into what \u201ckeeping alive the memory of the Passion\u201d means for each of us and for all of us together as the Passionist family.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We choose to walk the path that Paul of the Cross did, with companions, prayerfully reflecting on how the Rule that Paul wrote in 1721, and the Constitutions appended in 1984, can guide and shape our lives as we come to understand more deeply what it means to be a Passionist today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First and foremost, members of the Passionist family commit to keeping alive the memory of the Passion of Christ. This vow is personal, communal and apostolic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We commit to sharing in the joys and sorrows of our contemporaries. We understand that Christ\u2019s Passion and death are \u201cno mere historical events. Quiso que los mismos compa\u00f1eros siguieran un estilo de vida &#8220;a la manera de los Ap\u00f3stoles&#8221;, y fomentasen un profundo esp\u00edritu de oraci\u00f3n, de penitencia y de soledad, por el que alcanzasen una uni\u00f3n m\u00e1s \u00edntima con Dios y fuesen testigos de su amor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Con clara visi\u00f3n de los males de su tiempo, proclam\u00f3 incansablemente que la Pasi\u00f3n de Jesucristo,&#8221;la obra m\u00e1s grande y admirable del divino amor&#8221;, es el remedio m\u00e1s eficaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Iglesia, habiendo reconocido la acci\u00f3n del Esp\u00edritu Santo en San Pablo de la Cruz, aprob\u00f3 con su autoridad suprema nuestra Congregaci\u00f3n y sus Reglas, para la misi\u00f3n de anunciar el Evangelio de la Pasi\u00f3n con la vida y el apostolado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esta misi\u00f3n conserva siempre toda su fuerza y validez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Constituciones de la Congregaci\u00f3n, 1-2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bendigo a Dios, que desea que esta nueva planta produzca abundantes y maduros frutos para la mayor gloria de Dios y el bien de nuestro pr\u00f3jimo, en medio de las espinas de tantas dificultades.<br>~San Pablo de la Cruz<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Como miembros de la Familia Pasionista de la Provincia Santa Cruz, somos profundamente<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">conscientes de que la Pasi\u00f3n de Cristo contin\u00faa expres\u00e1ndose en nuestro mundo. Queremos<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">nutrir esa semilla de la Memoria Passionis, que ha echado ra\u00edces en nuestros corazones, viviendo en una comunidad de vida y viviendo m\u00e1s profundamente lo que significa \u201cmantener viva la memoria de la Pasi\u00f3n\u201d para cada uno de nosotros y para todos nosotros juntos como la Familia Pasionista. Elegimos seguir el camino que sigui\u00f3 Pablo de la Cruz con sus compa\u00f1eros. Adem\u00e1s, por reflexion y en oraci\u00f3n sobre la Regla que Pablo escribi\u00f3 en 1721 y las Constituciones Pasionistas, queremos entender m\u00e1s profundamente lo que significa ser un Pasionista hoy, para dar forma a nuestras vidas seg\u00fan El Camino Pasionista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ante todo, los miembros de la Familia Pasionista se comprometen a mantener viva<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">la memoria de la Pasi\u00f3n de Cristo. Este compromiso, ya sea por voto o promesa, es<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">personal, comunitario, y apost\u00f3lico. Nos comprometemos a compartir las alegr\u00edas y<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">tristezas de nuestros contempor\u00e1neos. Sabemos que anunciamos \u201csu pasi\u00f3n y muerte, no s\u00f3lo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">como acontecimiento hist\u00f3rico pasado, sino como realidad, ciertamente presente, en la vida<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">de los hombres que \u00abhoy son crucificados\u00bb por la injusticia, por la ausencia de un sentido profundo de la vida humana, y por el hambre de paz, de verdad y de vida\u201d (Constituciones, 65).
