Obedience in Illness

Lord, I think that I am at my worst when I suffer any sort of illness—from annoying aches and pains to more serious problems—it is a cross that I never wish to bear. Such suffering disturbs my inner peace and often shakes my faith. Yet, I know that all of us will be asked to share in your Passion in some ways. Guide me always to make wise decisions in taking care of my mind and body. Let me take an active part in my health care. Let me find trustworthy and compassionate doctors who see me as a person and not just a patient. Most of all, when I feel scared and discouraged, let me find courage and strength in your love and mercy. And, if it be your Will, let the burden of illness pass quickly.
