The Fruits of Prayer

Lord, I think I have forgotten what the results of prayer are meant to be—it is not to have desires fulfilled or wishes granted. Yet, oftentimes I approach prayer in this superficial way without greater concern for growing in virtues. Help me to keep my mind and heart focused on you when in meditation. Let my prayer be a vehicle for growth in love, peace, clarity, humility and patience. Let it produce all good things.
