A sacred place of rest and renewal

Sacred Heart Monastery – our “Ol’ Kentucky Home”

At the heart of Louisville, KY, Sacred Heart Community stands as both a historic home and a living sanctuary for our senior Passionists.

Known affectionately as our “Ol’ Kentucky Home,” the monastery continues to serve those who have spent their lives in prayer, ministry and compassion.

Living a life of prayer

Sacred Heart Monastery in Louisville serves as our primary residence for senior vowed Passionists in need of transitional health care.

While many of our senior Passionists continue to serve with great energy and ability, some can no longer serve as they once did. At Sacred Heart Monastery, senior Passionists spend their days in prayerful contemplation and serve in all the ways they are still able.

We are thankful to have such a place where senior Passionists can age in comfort and dignity.

A Life of Service Met with a Life of Care

As our vowed members grow older, they are lovingly supported in an environment rooted in community and spiritual life at Sacred Heart Monastery. Here, elder Passionists continue to offer their wisdom and presence, participating in daily prayer, spiritual reflection and community gatherings at their own pace.

A Faith-Filled Passionist Community with Skilled Care When Needed

When skilled nursing care is needed, we are blessed to have Nazareth Home, a trusted Catholic care facility, just next door. This close proximity allows our elders to receive the attention they need while remaining connected to the monastic community they call home.

Honoring Their Legacy Through Compassionate Care

Caring for our senior members is a vital part of the Passionist mission.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are able to uphold the dignity of our aging members, offering them the care, community and reverence they deserve. After a lifetime of walking with others in suffering and hope, their presence enriches our mission, reminding us daily that the Passion of Christ is not only remembered, but lived.
