Honoring the Feasts of St. Patrick and St. Joseph

March brings us the feast days of two beloved saints: St. Patrick on March 17 and St. Joseph on March 19.

March brings us the feast days of two beloved saints: St. Patrick on March 17 and St. Joseph on March 19.

Even though they lived centuries apart, both are shining examples of what it means to trust God, even when the path ahead is uncertain.

Think of St. Patrick. He was kidnapped and taken to Ireland as a young man, forced to work as a shepherd. After gaining his freedom and returning home, he felt God calling him back to the very land where he was once enslaved to share the message of God’s love. That is bold faith!

The there is St. Joseph. When God called him to be Mary’s husband and the protector of Jesus, Joseph did not have all the answers, but he listened, trusted and acted with courage. When danger came, he led his family to safety in Egypt, following God’s direction each step of the way.
