A Passionist Novena for Mothers

Day One

Loving God

You entrusted your son to the loving care of Mary.
Bless all mothers today. Through their sacrifices, tenderness and steadfast love, they reflect the compassionate heart of Christ crucified. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. 

Amen.

Day Two

Loving God,

You comforted the sorrowful and welcomed the weary. Bless mothers who carry heavy burdens, especially those raising children alone, those grieving and those who struggle quietly each day. Let them know that you walk beside them in every suffering and every hidden act of love.

Amen.

Day Three

Loving God, 

We thank you for women who became mother figures to us in spirit, guidance and care. Through teachers, grandmothers, godmothers and faithful friends, you revealed your love. May the love and selflessness they showed us be returned to them in all their relationships, and help them to know that their influence has changed us for the better.

Amen.

Day Four

Loving God, 

At the foot of the Cross, Mary remained faithful in sorrow and love. Strengthen all mothers when they feel discouraged or exhausted. Teach them to unite their sacrifices with yours and to discover grace even in difficult moments.

Amen.

Day Five

Loving God, 

We ask your blessing upon women who long to become mothers but carry the pain of waiting, uncertainty or loss. Be close to them in moments of sorrow and hope alike, bringing comfort, strength and peace. May they always know they are deeply loved and that their strength and tenderness are seen and held in compassion. 

Amen.

Day Six

Loving God,

Remember all mothers who have gone before us and the love they shared throughout their lives. May they rest in God’s peace, and may their memory continue to comfort and inspire us. Though they are no longer with us, their kindness, strength and care remain a lasting part of who we are.

Amen.

Day Seven

Loving God,
Comfort mothers who feel forgotten, lonely or overwhelmed. Remind them that their sacrifices are precious in your sight. When money runs low and when things are needed, when their hearts break because they can not do it all, please help us to let them know how much you love them.

Amen.

Day Eight

Loving God,

I recognize the dedication and patience it takes to be a source of compassion and understanding when helping to shape a young life. Bless new mothers and those preparing to welcome children into their families. Give them courage, wisdom and gentle hearts. May they feel your presence and know that your strength and wisdom are within them, providing all they need to guide and support their children with kindness and love.

Amen.

Day Nine

Loving God,

Bless every mother and grandmother with your spiritual blessings. May they know how deeply they are loved by you. Let them know they are not alone in the tasks you have given them to provide for and support those under their care. Confirm their worth daily so they have no reason to doubt whether they are loved. Strengthen them in their vocation and fill them with lasting peace.
