A Passionist Prayer for the 250th Anniversary of the United States

Loving and Faithful God,

As we mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, we pause with grateful hearts for the blessings you have poured upon this nation. We thank you for all who have worked to build communities of hope, defend human dignity and serve the common good through generations of sacrifice and generosity.

Give our nation the wisdom to seek truth, the courage to protect the vulnerable and the humility to place compassion above division. Teach us to listen to one another with respect and to work together so that every person may live with dignity, freedom and hope.

Bless all who serve our communities and our country, especially those in public service, the military, healthcare, education, emergency response and every vocation dedicated to the well-being of others. Strengthen them in their work and keep them safe.

As we look to the future, renew in us a spirit of gratitude, generosity and shared responsibility. 

May this anniversary renew our commitment to building a nation where mercy is stronger than hatred, hope overcomes fear and love is shown through faithful service.

May the memory of the Passion of Jesus Christ remain always in our hearts, leading us ever more deeply into your love and sending us forth to bring hope to a world in need.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
