About Us

Walking with others as companions in faith and solidarity.

Who We Are

We, The Passionists of Holy Cross Province are a Catholic religious community of priests, brothers and lay collaborators committed to proclaiming the Passion of Jesus Christ as a message of hope, love and reconciliation for the world.

Our History

Part of the global religious congregation founded by St. Paul of the Cross in the 18th century, Holy Cross Province was founded in 1906.

Today, The Passionists of Holy Cross Province serve across the United States and beyond, ministering in cities, neighborhoods and communities where the Gospel is lived out through presence, preaching, hospitality and healing.

What we believe

Our mission is to keep alive the memory of the Passion — the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus — as the greatest expression of God’s love.

We see the Passion not just as an historical event, but as a lived reality today in the lives of people experiencing poverty, injustice, illness and abandonment.

Who We Serve

Rooted in contemplative prayer and empowered by community life, we serve in a wide variety of ministries that bring Christ’s compassion to the most vulnerable and marginalized.

Our ministries stretch across the United States and into missions abroad, including parishes, retreat centers and social advocacy. Wherever we serve, we aim to be a healing presence, walking with others as companions in faith and solidarity.

Holy Cross Province

Holy Cross Province encompasses Passionist communities in the western and southern United States, including locations in California, Illinois, Kentucky, Texas and beyond. The Province is part of the larger Passionist Congregation, which is active in over 60 countries worldwide.

With a rich heritage and a vibrant vision for the future, Holy Cross Province continues to form new generations of Passionists, lay and vowed, to carry the Passion of Christ into the heart of contemporary life.
