Passionist Mission to a Suffering World: Historical Reflections on the 48th General Chapter

The passion of Jesus is a sea of sorrows but it is also an ocean of love.

This meditative phrase written by Passionist founder St. Paul of Cross (1694-1775) will be a source of motivation for the international representative of the Passionsts when they gather in Rome from October 6 -27, 2024. Addressed will be how some 1,890 priests, brothers (2020), and many lay men and women, in 61 countries reinvigorate their diversified ministries, life in common and elect a Superior General for the next six years.

Passionist Historian Fr. Rob Carbonneau, CP, reflects on the changing dynamics of history that have impacted Passionist General Chapters since 1900.
