The Passionists of Holy Cross Province are pleased to announce the publication of our Sustainable Purchasing Guide, a practical and faith-based resource for integrating ecological and ethical values into purchasing decisions across our communities, retreat centers, parishes and ministries.
Rooted in the spirit of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ and the Church’s call to ecological conversion, the guide affirms that “purchasing is always a moral – and not simply economic – act,” as Pope Benedict XVI wrote in Caritas in Veritate. It offers concrete ways for Passionist ministries to live out the goal of Ecological Economics from the Laudato Si’ Action Platform, which recognizes that the economy is part of human society and creation itself.
Living Our Charism through Ethical Purchasing
The guide supports our Passionist charism to stand with the Crucified of today by linking environmental degradation to human suffering. It encourages purchasing habits that respect both people and the planet, reflecting our commitment to a single, integrated ecology that promotes justice, dignity, and sustainability.
