“If this day you only knew what makes for peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes”?

Let us not be afraid to offer our greatest, most precious gifts to God.

Integrity of heart allows the Kingdom of God to take root within us, where mercy and justice meet.

The irony is striking because the blind man’s response testifies that he, who cannot see, is the one person in the story who recognizes that Jesus is not just a carpenter’s son from the tiny village of Nazareth, but indeed the son of God.

When we love as Jesus loves, what wisdom is there to refute what we do?

How we long for that peaceful stillness that our Creator offers. I believe this is the invitation given to us by Jesus in the Gospel.

God’s son delivered a roadmap as much by his behavior as his words. It turns out that how well we adhere to that roadmap is indeed findable, measurable, and followable.

Wisdom is not distant or abstract but alive – a reflection of God’s presence dwelling among us.

In each instance requiring a decision or a judgment, we must set aside our own biases and prejudices and look for the Christ in the person or situation that we encounter. 

We stand in need of grace every day. We would be foolish to stand before God at Judgment Day and request to be judged on the basis of justice instead of grace.
