Throughout the year 2025, we have celebrated the Jubilee of Hope.

As the Year of Hope ends, we shall certainly not be left “hopeless.” To punctuate this ending of the Year of Hope, the Church celebrates the Nativity, the birth of Jesus among us.

Whatever hope we have as Christians, it is not separable from the coming of Jesus into our world. The Christmas carol, “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” has the lyric, “The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.” The hope that Jesus brings can calm the fears of all the years, those past and those to come.

Jesus calms the fears of all the years because the birth of Jesus tells us that the Father who created us, will also accompany us through life by the sending us of his Son as our brother

We have reason to hope in our future because Jesus put his hopes in us, empowered us to hope, by putting on our human condition, our human weakness, in the form of a little child born in Bethlehem two thousand years ago.

Thank you for sharing in the spiritual blessings of our Passionist charism and share in our ministry of preaching the Passion of Jesus to the world.

We ask God’s blessings and peace for you and for your loved ones during these days of grace, which lead us into the New Year.
