Lent invites us to return to what is essential. Prayer, fasting and generosity are not relics of the past — they are living practices meant to shape how we love, how we choose and how we show up in the world today.
This video reflection offers a starting point. It draws us back to the Cross, where we see most clearly what faithful love looks like. As you watch, allow it to become a space for reflection.
Throughout Lent, our journey will continue with reflections that help translate traditional Lenten practices into modern discipleship. Not as routine habits, but as pathways to deeper compassion, stronger community and more courageous love.
Take a few quiet minutes with this video. Let it open the season for you as we begin our Lenten journey.
Reflection Questions
- What is your cross today?
- Has there ever been a cross that felt too heavy to bear?
- Who has helped with your cross?
- Have you ever turned away from helping someone with their cross?
- Have you ever helped someone with their cross?
- How has your experience of the cross transformed your life?

This reflection provided me with a number of aha moments…those sudden, intense realizations that I have more to give. I am very grateful for the deep reflection this video provided to me. AMEN!
A REFLECTION POEM
The many crosses I have ignored,
Those that carrying I have failed
Those that remain untold,
Them, teach me dear Lord to load,
To firmly hold, without shame but with pride;
Imitating you, following your steps as I tread,
Lovingly, full of hope, with no hint of dread,
Marching behind you, on the 40 day journey ahead.
