On Good Friday, we remember the Passion of Jesus – his journey to the cross and the depth of his love for the world.

For the Passionists, the Passion of Christ is at the very heart of our spirituality. We believe that in remembering Jesus’ suffering, we come to know most deeply the love of God revealed in the cross; a love that is present in all human suffering and never abandons us.

The Stations of the Cross are one of the most meaningful ways we enter into that mystery. By walking step by step with Jesus, we not only recall his Passion, but also learn to recognize his presence in our own lives and in the suffering of others.

Stations of the Storm – An Immersive Passionist Journey

This distinctly Passionist approach revisits seven moments from the final hours of Jesus’ life, each reframed as a storm he braved— storms that mirror the storms we face in our own lives: the storms of dread, betrayal, abandonment, injustice, burdens, powerlessness, and surrender.

The Stations of the Cross in Real Life

The Stations of the Cross are more than a devotion. They are a way of seeing the world. “Real-life” stations invite us to see each moment of suffering around us as a place where Christ’s Passion is still unfolding today. By walking these stations through real-life situations, we are invited to live out our charism to keep alive the memory of the Passion of Jesus as the greatest sign of God’s love.

Br. Norbert Friedel’s Way of the Cross

These Stations of the Cross began not as a formal project, but as a deeply personal prayer. Br. Norbert Friedel, CP (1938-1991), first wrote them by hand on simple sheets of a legal pad, reflecting on the Passion through the lens of his own spiritual journey, shaped in part by his experience with the 12 Step tradition. They were never intended for publication or wide distribution—only as an honest expression of his prayer before God.

To remember the Passion is not simply to look back, it is to be transformed. In the cross, we encounter a love that calls us to compassion, hope and solidarity with those who suffer.

Whether you have prayed the Stations many times or are experiencing them for the first time, this Good Friday is an opportunity to walk with Jesus and discover his love more deeply.
