The Season of Creation is the annual Christian celebration to pray and respond together to the cry of Creation: the ecumenical family around the world unites to contemplate and care for our common home, the Oikos of God.
For us Passionists, this message resonates deeply with our charism. We are called to keep alive the memory of the Passion of Jesus, not just as a past event, but as a living reality. We see Christ crucified today in those who suffer: in the poor, in the marginalized, and yes, in the wounded Earth itself.
During this special season, we celebrate God as Creator, and acknowledge Creation as the divine continuing act that summons us as collaborators to love and care for the gift of all that is created.
This year, the theme for the Season is “Living Water.”

As we prepare to celebrate the Season of Creation, the Laudato Si’ Team invites you to join in reflecting on one of God’s greatest gifts: water.

Celebrate a Mass for Creation
“In the Eucharistic sacrifice the whole of creation loved by God is presented to the Father through the death and Resurrection of Christ.”

Many parishes and communities are celebrating the Season of Creation with a special Mass for Creation. The Mass for Creation liturgy lifts up the important theme of Catholic Social Teaching that we are called to a relationship of reverence and care with God’s creation. This includes responding to both the cry of the poor and the cry of Earth.
St. Paul of the Cross “saw the name of Jesus written on the foreheads of the poor,” recognizing Christ in the suffering and crucified of his day. Today, Passionists also recognize Earth as one of the crucified.
The Mass for Creation invites us to intentionally reflect on the connection between our faith and God’s creation, with a sense of both wonder and responsibility.
There is no one way to celebrate this special Mass. Communities around the world have found creative ways to lift up creation through word, song, art, and dance—even “reading from the book of nature” at an outdoor Mass.
