This fall has brought many reasons to give thanks at Christ the King Passionist Retreat Center in Citrus Heights, CA.
From festive gatherings and shared worship to projects that care for creation and welcome retreatants, the retreat center shares how community continues to grow through the faith, friendship and generosity of our Passionist Family.
9th Annual Fall Gala – Amber Lights, Autumn Nights

Christ the King Passionist Retreat Center celebrated its 9th Annual Fall Gala, Amber Lights, Autumn Nights, on October 3. It was a wonderful evening of celebration, friendship and generosity.
We began with the Eucharist, followed by a social gathering, dinner, silent and live auctions, plenty of laughter, and dancing. More than 90 guests joined us, along with many dedicated staff and volunteers who helped make the evening such a success. It was a beautiful celebration of the Christ the King community and the generosity of so many who support our ministry.

Celebrating the Feast of St. Paul of the Cross

We had a beautiful bilingual celebration of the Feast of St. Paul of the Cross, bringing together members of our English- and Spanish-speaking communities.
The evening began with a gathering in St. Paul’s Garden, followed by a procession to the chapel for a special Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Phillip Donlan, CP. After Mass, everyone enjoyed a wonderful potluck dinner, sharing delicious food, friendship, and the joy of being part of the Passionist Family.
Solar Power Comes to Christ the King

We were blessed to have Fr. David Colhour, CP, with us for the official activation of our new solar panel system at Christ the King.
The panels will provide electricity for two of our larger buildings, helping us reduce energy costs while being better stewards of God’s creation.
Although we missed the opportunity to take advantage of the summer sunshine, we are delighted to have the system operating as we move into fall and winter. It is an important investment in the future sustainability of our retreat center.
A New Gazebo for Prayer, Reflection, and Fellowship

With more than 18 high school retreats taking place at Christ the King each year, we are excited about the construction of a new outdoor gazebo, made possible through the generosity of several significant donors.
The gazebo will feature a natural gas fire pit at its center, creating a welcoming gathering place for retreatants. We envision young people gathering around the fire for quiet reflection, faith sharing, singing, and, of course, enjoying some s’mores together.
It will be another beautiful space on our grounds where young people and other retreatants can experience friendship, peace, and God’s presence.
