Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School (HFCR) is excited to welcome a familiar face on campus to a more permanent role.
As a member of the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ (the Passionists, Holy Cross Province), Fr. Hugo Esparza, CP, has been a presence at HFCR for a few years. This year, however, his role has grown to be the HFCR Chaplain.
As Chaplain, Fr. Hugo will lead mass and prayer groups, be available for confession and holy listening, contribute to religion classes and help with the many mission and ministry projects at HFCR.
A native of Mexico, and raised in Northern California, Fr. Hugo was ordained in 2011. He has worked with an indigenous community in Mexico and poverty-stricken groups in Haiti, spent a year experiencing the monastic life, worked with immigrant youth and day laborers, and served as a leader of the Mayan Young Adults. His wide-range of experience and deep level of compassion will serve our campus family on so many levels.
Fr. Hugo is already a cheerful and welcoming presence at morning carpool many days of the week!
