Clinging to God in trials

Lord, sometimes I cannot see the way out of my desperation. I go through periods of such immense sadness and disappointment and worry. I find myself distracted from the responsibilities of my day with anxiety about so many things—work, family, health. It is in these moments of weakness that I begin to think that I have earned such suffering from my failures in not living a life fully worthy of your love. Remind me that even the greatest of saints faced doubt and fear and trials of faith. Bless me with strength and wisdom to see clearly how great your love is for me.
