Prayer for when Overwhelmed

In my life at present, I find disaster threatening from many directions. Bitter waters are entering even into the depths of my soul (Ps 69.2). I see myself surrounded on every side by troubles, distress, dangers, fears, terrors within and without. I cry out to God, yet I rejoice to be abandoned by all and to depend on his protection.

Lord, even in the midst of my daily life, I am sometimes overwhelmed. The responsibilities of my job and family and fear about the future of this uncertain world can paralyze me with anxiety. I can often feel under siege from these worries. Give me pause to find you in all of this chaos. Let me run to you and not away from you during these difficult times. Grant me the grace and peace to trust in your divine will and have faith that all is working to my spiritual good.
