Trusting the Spiritual Journey

Lord, I often look to Mass and other religious experiences to make me feel a certain way–that I will come out of them with a sense of knowing you more intimately.  When this doesn’t happen, I judge myself and my progress towards eternal happiness harshly.  Let me abandon these expectations and instead be willing to feel the emptiness and darkness that may come along my spiritual journey.  Give me the courage to trust in you and look with faith at the end of tunnel to believe that the light is coming.
