Christ the King Passionist Retreat Center in Citrus Heights, California, has been a sacred refuge for thousands over the past 75 years. It has offered a place of grace where people encounter God, find renewal and experience the transformative power of retreats.
The Retreat Center opened on May 7, 1950, with accommodations for 30 retreatants. The first retreat welcomed the men of Holy Name Union and the construction workers who built the facility. Over time, the Retreat Center expanded and now receives about 3,000 retreatants annually, with another 4,000 participating in hosted events.
Alongside retreat ministry, the Passionists have long supported the Diocese of Sacramento and western Nevada through parish missions, chaplaincies and pastoral service. Today, Christ the King continues to evolve, offering programs such as the Institute for Counseling and Spiritual Direction and the Spiritual Life Institute, fostering ecumenical dialogue.
Congratulations to all at Christ the King on your 75th anniversary! May you continue to “Let it Shine!”
