Hello, my name is Father Hugo Esparza. I am a Passionist missionary, and I would like to invite you to reflect on the approaching feast, the commemoration of all the deceased, also known as the Day of the Dead.

Our people, from their hearts, have elevated this feast to a deeper way of living, and colloquially, we call it Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). On this day, depending on the region, we decorate, eat, sing, and even play games on the graves of family and friends. Similarly, in some places, we sanctify our homes with altars to await, with a banquet, those who have already entered the mystery of death and new life.

May the light of Christ, on this feast of the Day of the Dead, take our darkness to transform it and our light to uplift it, for that is the fulfilled promise of Jesus, our Lord and brother, who also knew the grave and rose again.

In his name, we ask this. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
