Some memories come to us in the simplest ways: a familiar song, a favorite recipe or a story that still makes us smile. In those moments, we feel again how deeply our loved ones have shaped our lives.
On November 2, All Souls’ Day, we bring those memories to prayer. We remember people whose deaths are still painfully recent and those we have missed for many years. Each name holds a story. Each life remains part of our own.
Our faith makes room for both gratitude and tears. Jesus himself wept at the death of his friend Lazarus. He knows the sorrow of losing someone we love, and he meets us there with compassion.
As Passionists, we find comfort in the love revealed through Jesus’ Cross and Resurrection. We entrust our departed loved ones to that same love, trusting in God’s mercy and the promise of eternal life.
This November, I invite you to share the names of those you would like us to remember in prayer. Let us also remember one another, especially those carrying their grief quietly.
May God grant peace to our beloved departed and comfort to all who miss them.
