Our Psalm offers us beautiful words (psalm, 5), “Lord, listen to my groaning. help me realize your sacrifice for me and be mindful to forgive others.

This God, who is the creator of all, who is“not far from any of us.” A God who cannot be fashioned from anything of the earth, be it gold or silver, but rather is one who is always present. The great I AM.

Regardless of what is going on “out there,” how well do I love myself, and how does that reflect in my actions towards all whom I encounter?

Before we can speak plainly, we must listen. Before we listen, we must desire to really hear the voice of Jesus speak to our hearts.

From this small Galilean town, Jesus begins his ministry of teaching with “authority,” and the people took notice.

Come, Lord Jesus. Fill every corner of our world with your self-emptying love. Amen.

How we long for that peaceful stillness that our Creator offers. I believe this is the invitation given to us by Jesus in the Gospel.
