A Passionist Novena for Fathers

Day One

Loving God

You chose Saint Joseph to protect and guide the Holy Family.

Bless all fathers today. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Day Two

Loving God,

You comforted the sorrowful and welcomed the weary. Bless fathers who carry heavy burdens, especially those raising children alone, those grieving and those who struggle quietly each day. In moments of anxiety, exhaustion or uncertainty, remind them that your cross is the source of strength and hope. 

Amen.

Day Three

Loving God, 

We thank you for men who became father figures to us in spirit, guidance and care. Through teachers, grandfathers, godfathers and faithful friends, you revealed your love. May the love and selflessness they showed us be returned to them in all their relationships, and help them to know that their influence has changed us for the better.

Amen.

Day Four

Loving God, 

You showed perfect obedience and trust in the Father’s will. Help all fathers lead their families with wisdom, humility and integrity. Teach them to unite their sacrifices with yours and to discover grace even in difficult moments.

Amen.

Day Five

Loving God, 

We ask your blessing upon men who hope for the gift of fatherhood but carry the pain of waiting, uncertainty or loss. Walk beside them with gentleness and grace, giving them courage in waiting and peace in times of sorrow. May they always know they are deeply loved and that their quiet strength, love and longing are seen and held in compassion.

Amen.

Day Six

Loving God,

Remember all fathers who have gone before us and the love they shared throughout their lives. May they rest in God’s peace, and may their memory continue to comfort and inspire us. Though they are no longer with us, their kindness, strength and care remain a lasting part of who we are.

Amen.

Day Seven

Loving God,

Comfort fathers who feel discouraged, burdened or alone. Remind them that no sacrifice made for love is ever wasted. Through the Passion of Christ, help them discover hope in every trial and strength in every weakness.

Amen.

Day Eight

Loving God,

I recognize the dedication and patience it takes to be a source of compassion and understanding when helping to shape a young life. Bless new fathers and those preparing for fatherhood.  Give them courage, wisdom and gentle hearts. May they feel your presence and know that your strength and wisdom are within them, providing all they need to guide and support their children with kindness and love.

Day Nine

Loving God,

Bless every father and grandfather with your spiritual blessings. May they know how deeply they are loved by you. Let them know they are not alone in the tasks you have given them to provide for and support those under their care. Confirm their worth daily so they have no reason to doubt whether they are loved. Strengthen them in their vocation and fill them with lasting peace.
